How do you trust someone?
(In a romantic context.)
Well, by being vulnerable. I know it’s counterintuitive, but that is how it is. You take the most fragile part of yourself, your deepest insecurities, the darkest secrets, the most embarrassing moments, anxieties, and incompetencies, and lay them out in front of them. Give them the power to do as they wish.
They could smash them like a monkey throwing a tantrum, walk away, put them in their bag to hurt you later, or they could hold you and stand with you. Only by being vulnerable will you get to see their true self and show your true self.
This is one half of the process. They also have to be vulnerable in front of you and return the favour.
What if you get hurt in the process? Well, love is not for the faint-hearted.
When in love, you are in a constant state of being vulnerable. So let your guard down and fall in love.
